Olin Cecil Smith, 88, went home January 24, 2017.
Born in Crawford County, GA, he was a son of the late Yancey D. and Roberta Bowden Smith. Mr. Smith received his Bachelors and Masters degree from the University of Georgia and was retired as acting head of Farm Management with the Cooperative Extension Service following 34 years of service. He was a member and past president of NARFE and longtime member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church, where he had served as chairman of deacons. Following his retirement, he became a full time deacon.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Reed Smith, sons, Logan Smith (Sheila) of Athens and Brian Smith (Nona) of Tifton; 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Dr. W. T. Smith, Herman Smith and Dr. Raymond Smith.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 27, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, WEST with Revs. Bill Ricketts and Sky Pratt officiating. Entombment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Prince Avenue Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Prince Avenue Baptist Church Building or Mission Fund.
