Cassie Florine Myers

Watkinsville - Cassie Florine Myers, 93, died at her home Friday, May 23, 2008. A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Elbridge J. and Callie Lou Shelnutt Christy, and was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey G. Myers; two sons, J. W. and Edgar Myers; two grandchildren, James Myers and Carolyn Myers; sisters, Lenora Smith, Willie Mae Wyatt, Mattie Lou Myers; brothers, Edgar and Ollie Christy.
She was a homemaker and belonged to Memorial Baptist Church of Watkinsville, Ga. She was a devout Christian who read her Bible everyday until her health declined, but she prayed daily up until she took her last breath. She taught youth Sunday school at Edwards Baptist Church of Crawford, Ga. She gave much of her time in later years helping raise her ten grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, and her great-nieces and nephews. She loved Jesus, her family, her Church and her friends.
She is survived by her son, Leonard D. (Robbie) Myers Sr. of Watkinsville; daughter-in-law, Virginia Myers (widow of Edgar) of Bishop; grandchildren, Tim Myers (Vivian) and Steven Myers of Charlotte, N.C., Kathy (Steve) Bennett, Angie (Robin) McElroy, Grant Myers of Bishop, Beki (Brian) Passante and Len (Cathy) Myers Jr. of Macon and Parrish (Amy) Myers of Braselton; sister, Hazel Butler of Watkinsville; and a host of GGC, nieces and nephews. She is survived by dear friends and caregivers, Edwina and John Hollis.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 26, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Oconee Chapel, Watkinsville, Ga. A private burial will be held.
