Jennings Carter Howard, beloved son, father, grandson, nephew and friend died August 12, 2021. Carter, born June 20, 1978, was the son of Rhetta Howard-Poole, Jeffry C. Howard and Robert Poole. He is survived by his daughters, Jocelyn Cadence, Julianna Charlese, and Gwendolyn Ann Howard; the mother of his children, Heather Howard; his mother, Rhetta Howard-Poole, Robert Poole, his grandmothers, Blanche Carter and Ann Howard; Uncle, Tommy Howard; brother J. Carter worked a number of years for Tires Plus, as a mechanic, salesman and manager of one of the locations. He was very knowledgeable about cars, and friends were always seeking him out to repair something. He worked for Carson Plumbing for 3 years, then Snap-On Tools before opening his own home repair business. Carter loved building things since he was a child, so this was his true calling. He enjoyed helping people and seeing things in disrepair brought back to life.
Carter formed lifetime friends at St. Joseph Catholic School, Athens Academy, Cedar Shoals High School (where he transferred for ROTC) and attended Georgia Military Academy. Carter made friends every where he went; he loved those friends deeply and they him. He was a lot of fun, loved music and to dance; there are many funny “Carter stories” being told.
Pallbearers are Daniel Jeter, Keith Bradberry, Wendell Burns, Derek Adams, Matt Duffel, Matt Schuman, Isaac Bramblett and Zack Anderson. Visitation will be at Lord & Stephens East on Wednesday, August 18, 5:30-8:00; the funeral will be at Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Thursday, August 19 at 2:00pm; burial in Oconee Hill Cemetery.
