Bogart, GA - Joseph Carroll Luke, 87, died June 25, 2008.
Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late William Henry and Ada Roberts Luke. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Willie Luke and Ellis Luke.
A lifelong resident of this area, Mr. Luke was a U.S. Army veteran and was retired from the University of Georgia Poultry Department after 25 years of service. He was a member of Bogart Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 28, 2008 at 4:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, WEST with Minister Ken Young officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Luke; children, Jim (Phyllis) Luke of Bogart and Sandy (Tom) Elliott of Duluth; sister, Annie Casper of Bogart; grandchildren, Suzanna (Mike) Trice, Katie (Dan) Burnett, Julie (Tim) Woodson and Jill Elliott (fiancé, Joe Tereshinski); and 4 great grandchildren. Mr. Luke was preceded in death by his grandson, Evan Luke.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM and will also be at the residence of Jim and Phyllis Luke, 1320 Meriweather Drive (Jennings Mill), Bogart.
Lord and Stephens, WEST is in charge of arrangements.
