Athens - Carroll Roscoe Drury, 90, of Athens, died July 24, 2011. He was born in Camden County on April 12, 1921 to Nora Hilton Drury and William Crawford Drury.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife of 44 years, Runell Still Drury; his brothers, Elbern, Roy, J.C., and Hilton Drury; and sister, Juanita Drury Lewis.
He will be missed by his wife of 24 years, Jean Garrison Drury, of Athens; his sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Beth Drury, of Sarasota, Fla.; Bill and Terri Drury, of Woodstock. Also, his stepchildren and their spouses, Beth Martin-Greist and Doug Greist, of Augusta; Miki and Steve Thrall, of Paris, France; Woody and Elizabeth Garrison, of Honolulu, Hawaii. "Papa", well loved, will be missed by his grandchildren, Ford Drury, Parker Drury, Melinda Drury, Ross Drury, Rhiannon Martin, Anders and Carlie Martin, Rebecca (Thrall) and Julien Hogan, Sarah Thrall, Jonathan Thrall, Benjamin and Holly Greist, Rachael Greist, Mathew Greist, and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive callers from 6 - 9 p.m. Friday, August 5 at the Funeral Home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 6 at Redeemer Presbyterian, 165 Pulaski St., Athens, GA 30601.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Roscoe Drury to one of the charities of his choice or one of yours: Downtown Ministries (Youth), 165 Pulaski St., Athens, GA 30601, or SmileTrain (cleft repair surgery), P.O. Box 96231, Washington, D.C., 20090-6231.
