Carol Beth Vincent Givens died peacefully Wednesday, February 01, 2012, at the St. Mary's Hospice House. She was a resident of Iris Place in Athens, Georgia. She has lived there happily the last 5 years surrounded by many friends.
Mrs. Givens was born in Atwood, Kansas, on June 30, 1931, to James O. Vincent and Gertrude Mather Vincent where she then grew up in Yuma, Colorado. She graduated from Yuma High School in Yuma, Colorado, attended Colorado Women's College in Denver, Colorado, and graduated with a degree in education from The University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. While at UNC she met Herbert Eugene Givens and married in November of 1952. They lived in Denver, Colorado until 1972. In 1972 they moved to Georgia (Lilburn, Peachtree City, and Athens) where she resided for 32 years. She was one of The Georgia Bulldogs greatest supporters.
Carol had three siblings John D. Hacker, Floy Northway, and James H. Vincent. She is survived by two children, Cathleen Ann Tereshinski, her husband Joseph P. Tereshinski Jr., and her son Mark Givens. She has two grandchildren, Joseph P. Tereshinski III, his wife Jill Elliot Tereshinski, and John Michael Tereshinski.
Her memorial will be held at Iris Place on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 2:00 PM for family and her friends at Iris Place. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Mary's Hospice in Athens, Georgia.
