Carol Nash Carroll, 89, of Athens, died on Saturday , January 29, 2022.
She was born on September 15, 1932 in Jefferson, GA, the daughter of DeWitt and Inez Thigpen Nash. She lived most of her life in the Athens area and at the time of her death was a resident of Iris Place.
Carol had a long career in management, first as manager of the busy mail room of Benson’s Fruitcake Company, then as owner/manager of Athens Mailing Service. After her “retirement,” Carol owned and managed franchises of Zaxby’s.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel S. Carroll; son Robert Wayne Williams, USMC; and her brother and best friend, Daniel Wade Nash of Aiken, SC.
Survivors include four children: Jane (Brian) Conaway of Woodstock, Kay Williams of Bowman, Jack (Julie) Williams of Bowman, and Dena (John) Pruitt of Winder; four sisters: Jo McDaris of Bogart, Patti Andersen of Raeford, NC, Jane Jameson of Richmond Hill, GA, and Rosalind (Shelby) Robert of Athens; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
At Carol’s request, there will be no service. Donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or to your favorite charity.
