Carol Alyce Barry, 73, died Monday, October 11, 2021. Born in Atlanta, GA, she was the daughter of the late Richard Haden Barry and Dora Lee Palmer Barry. Ms. Barry retired from HP/Compaq as the Southeast Region Marketing and Events Coordinator, but more importantly than her work, her favorite “job” was to spend quality time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; never missing sporting events, school functions, baking annual Happy Birthday Jesus cakes and more. Ms. Barry was also an avid supporter of curing Breast Cancer. She was considered the Number 1 “Walker Stalker” on many “Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3 Day” or “Athens In their Shoes” events. She loved college football and Atlanta United Soccer games. She was a fighter that was willing to try anything to get more time doing the things she loved with those that she loved. Always a sweet and generous spirit, she was dubbed Queen Carol by all that knew and loved her. Survivors include her two children: Chelley (Keith) Young and Mike (Brenda) Spath; brothers: Rick (Sheila) Barry and John (Kim) Barry; six grandchildren: Maxwell, Taylor, Michael, Daniel, Mabel and Dylan and three great grandchildren: Leo, Maddie and River. A memorial service will be held Friday, October 15, 2021 at 2PM at Lord and Stephens West Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made (payable by check) to the Emory St. Joseph’s Heart Failure Fund in memory of Carol Barry - Heart Failure Center Fund # 00033933.
