Carl S. Maxey (Mac), 83, of Watkinsville GA, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospice House. Mac was born on July 13, 1934, a lifelong resident of the Watkinsville community, he served in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion Statham Branch. Mac enjoyed a career in sales and a passion for farming and was retired from Maxey Brothers. He loved his annual dove shoot with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Carl and Annie Hammond Maxey, brother, James Stinson "Stinnie" Maxey, sister, Gloria Maxey Carson, and first wife, Patsy Marshall Maxey.
He is survived by his spouse of 53 years, Nina Greenway Maxey, daughter, Kathy Maxey Hall, of Dacula, grandchildren, Breanna Hall, of Dacula, Brandon Hall, of Braselton, Blake and Jessica Hall, of Jefferson, great grandson, Liam Hall, of Jefferson, sister, Shirley Maxey Seagraves, brother, Cecil Maxey, along with several nieces and nephews.
The service to honor and celebrate the life of Mac will be held Friday, May 4, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Lord and Stephens, West. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Evergreen Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Carl Maxey to Bethabara Baptist Church.
