Carl Lee Epps, 84, went home to be with the LORD, September 8, 2016.
Born in Clarke County, he was a son of the late Willie Richard and Frances Dover Epps and preceded in death by his siblings, Parks (Mary) Epps and Edna (Guy) Rogers.
Mr. Epps served with the US Navy during the Korean Conflict and was retired from the US Postal Service. He was a member of Hull Baptist Church.
He was well loved by his family and friends. He never met a stranger and always had a smile for the crew at his local McDonald's (which he visited daily), his jaunts to the post office and bank, and his times of worship at church. Carl loved to sing and enjoyed listening to good ole Gospel music and hymns. His sweet spirit and endearing smile will be greatly missed, but his legacy lives on in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. As his granddaughter-in-law put into words, "the joy and love of the LORD are powerful and lasting through generations." May you find peace and contentment in a life well lived. You will always be remembered with joy.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Janet DeLay Epps; children, Mike (Deborah) Epps of Watkinsville, Elaine (Mike) McCain of Comer and Julie (Derek) Dougherty of Danielsville; brother, Raymond (Lois) Epps; grandchildren, Chris, Jonathan and Tracy Epps, Jeremiah Tolbert, Beth-Ann and Landon Dougherty, and Xavious Tarpkins (considered as one of his own); great grandchildren, Ava Reed, Kairi, Ian, and Andrew Epps.
Services will be Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Hull Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Crowe officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Lord and Stephens, EAST, Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
Memorials may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice.
