After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Army where he hoped he would become a pilot for the US Army Air Corp. He was well on his way to becoming a pilot, beating out most of the recruits for a few spots, acing all the exams for further training. The war ended and most of the young men went home to live their lives.

Carl was very artistic; he loved to paint; he created some beautiful paintings; he also created some stained-glass pieces as well. He loved to play golf, and played as often as he could as long as he could. If he wasn’t on the links, he was always ready to hit a bucket of balls.
Carl was full of energy for fun and assistance, whenever he was called upon for assistance, he would be there quickly he was never too busy to help fix almost anything! He was water skiing at 80. Parasailing in the Caribbean well into his 90’s. Dancing the twist at every wedding he attended and zip lining at 90! Carl and Doris were always ready for a cruise. Carl never met a midnight buffet he didn’t like, especially the “Chocaholic Buffett” on the SS Norway. Travel made up a huge part of their retired days, flights to Porta Vallarta with friends, too many cruises to list, maybe 15 different times all over the Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii, and Australia. They cruised with friends and family, and they paid for family cruises many times. They would cruise with anyone who was willing to go! Yes, and up until recently the two of them lived life to the absolute fullest, neither one of them had any regrets. If they weren’t traveling, they were doing things for, with and in support of the family, they probably got more joy from doing this than anything, always willing to give of themselves whenever asked.
A devout Catholic he and Doris were members of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church for 32 years, served as a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Men’s CHRP program.
Carl worked most of his days with Westinghouse as a salesman, winning and achieving many sales goals and awards. When the Westinghouse plant was sold off in Horseheads NY, they moved to Dresher PA. where he worked for Magnavox. After that they landed in Georgia in 1990 where he worked at the local Sears store for about 20 years total. People knew Carl and would seek him out for his thoughts and suggestions on products. When he left Sears, he said he wasn’t going to miss working Black Friday at all, although he was always dressed for the part with his Santa hat and holly bow tie.
