Bogart, GA - Byron Dallas Dean, 77, passed away September 25, 2008.
A native and longtime resident of Oconee County, he was a son of the late Arizona Turk and Lonnie C. Dean, Sr., and was preceded in death by a brother, Lonnie C. Dean, Jr. and a sister, Ruth Whitehead. Mr. Dean was a graduate of Bogart High School and attended the University of Georgia. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Dean retired from General Time after forty-one years and was a devoted member of Mars Hill Baptist Church where he served in many capacities. He was also a School Bus Driver with Oconee County School System for ten years.
Funeral services will be Saturday, September 27, 2008, at 11:30 AM at Mars Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Jones officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Whitworth Dean; three children, Gary Dean of Colbert, Terri (Allen) Carter of Bishop, Tracy (Eddie) Anderson of Watkinsville; two sisters and brother-in-law, Helen Gordon of Bogart and Emily (Thomas) Higginbothom of Statham; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Mars Hill Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
