Bryan William Hines, cherished husband, father, brother and “Pop” passed away on Friday, February 28, 2020 at the age of 88.
A lifelong resident of the Athens area, he was a son of the late Francis Xavier Hines Sr. and Effie Burton Lord. Mr. Hines was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and was a member of the American Legion. He was also a Mason in good standing with Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge #22 and was a member of Winterville United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Francis “Pete” Hines Jr. and James “Jimmy” Hines.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Martha Ann Hines; daughter, Heidi Teressa Spratlin (Harry); three siblings, Forrest Hines, Dot Barrett and Minnie Lou Barrett; two grandchildren, Brant William Spratlin (Shannon) and Mallory Spratlin Finger (Tyler) and two great-grandchildren, Ava Van Hull and Isabella Spratlin.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 2, 2020 at 3:00 pm at Lord and Stephens, East with Rev. Ray Finger and Rev. John Merk officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 until 3:00 pm at the funeral home.
