Bruce "Pop" Lamey, 81, of Winterville, GA, passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2018. Born October 21, 1936, in Titusville, PA, he was the son of the late Rev. William J. and Gladys Louise Lamey.
He served his country in the United States Coast Guard and was a member of Grove Chapel Church for 40 years. He worked as a local freight truck driver for 64 years. He loved his family and friends, the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and racing cars.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Hild.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Doris "Dee" Lamey, and three sons: Bruce (Janeen) E. Lamey, Jr. of Winterville, William Carey (Tracy) Lamey of Winterville, and Bruce Lee Hild of Winterville. He is also survived by four siblings: Louise (Lyle) Shontz of Oil City, PA; Phyllis (Duke) Tarr of Slippery Rock, PA; Helen (George) Beach of Titusville, PA; and Olive Neely of Titusville, PA; four grandchildren: Eric Lamey, Jonathan Lamey, Haylee Lamey, and Kara Lamey; and three great-grandchildren.
He also leaves behind Jeffery Chase, his four-legged little boy who will miss him dearly.
A funeral service will be held at Grove Chapel Church at 2 pm on Tuesday, August 14. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Lamey, Jonathan Lamey, Casey Neely, Jerry Hazlett, Rev. Bobby Dean Callaway, and Jason Turner, with Kenny Joe Neely serving as an alternate. Honorary pallbearers will be Arnold Callaway, Willie Howard, and Billy McElroy.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 p.m. on Monday, August 13, at Lord and Stephens, East Chapel.
