Briana Louise Skelton was born at home during a snow storm in Boulder, CO with her mom, dad, brother, and aunt present on January 29, 1981. She passed away peacefully at St. Mary’s Hospice House after a long illness on Monday, August 22, 2022. During her 41 years Briana expressed her joy of life with laughter, kindness, and ever-present concern for others. Her sense of humor was both plentiful and subtle. She loved family and friends. People were always her highest priority. She loved theatre, musicals, and Disney princesses, often wearing a glittering tiara, saying every woman should wear one. She was quick witted and loved laughing. She excelled in trivia and loved Karaoke. Her friends were her family too and she welcomed them openly and fully into her big, beautiful heart.
After high school in Lilburn, GA, she attended the University of Georgia and stayed in Athens, GA and started her career in banking. Her last place of work became her home away from home as indicated by her kind and caring co-workers who remained by her side. She loved her nephews and niece and constantly shared stories with anyone who would listen about her brother and his family.
Briana is survived by her mother, Mary Lou Skelton, and her husband Chris Frye; brother, Daniel Skelton and his wife, Jillian and their family, numerous aunts and uncles and many many cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Eamon Skelton; paternal grandparents: Thomas and Bernie Skelton and maternal grandparents; Fred Machol, Ann Machol and Mary Louise Machol.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Mary’s Hospice House where she received exceptional care during her last days or to a local animal shelter.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, EAST, Athens, GA is in charge of arrangements.
