Brenda Sailors Blanton

Brenda Sailors Blanton, 83, born in Jackson County, raised in Ellijay and a longtime resident of Athens, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2024 at her assisted living home in Marietta, GA. Born on August 18, 1941, she was the daughter of the late William H. Sailors and Ruth Chambers Sailors of Ellijay, GA.

Brenda was a dedicated REALTOR® and Broker/Owner since 1978 in Athens, Georgia, and surrounding areas until recently. Brenda loved welcoming people to her beautiful, vibrant and diverse community and helping people with all their moves into and out of the community where she and her husband had resided since the late 1960’s. Brenda’s clients became like family to her and she cherished being a lifelong professional in the real estate industry. She also loved mentoring new real estate agents and interns. Her other passions were cheering on her only daughter and grandchildren in their activities over the years, gardening, travel and making her famous Coconut Cakes and Pound Cakes at the holidays. 

Brenda was active in the Athens Rotary Club for many years and also supported various organizations and worthy causes including: American Cancer Society, American Heart Association which she co-chaired Go Red for Women recently with her daughter, Athens Community Council on Aging, Boys & Girls Clubs of Athens, and University Woman’s Club at the University of Georgia, and Sunshine Kids - dedicated to children with Cancer. 

She was a member of Tuckson Methodist Church and later First Methodist Church of Athens. Brenda was married to Charles DeWitt Blanton, PhD, a retired professor from the UGA’s School of Pharmacy, since 1959. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of many years. Survivors include her only daughter, DeAnn Blanton Golden; grandchildren, Grace and Wilson Golden; son-in-law Craig A. Camasta and extended family. 

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested in Brenda’s memory to an organization of your preference or one of the above that Brenda devoted her time and energy towards. 

 A Celebration of Life in remembrance and honor of Brenda Sailors Blanton will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 2-4pm at Athens Country Club 2700 Jefferson Rd, Athens, GA 30607. The family welcomes all who knew “BB” or her family to join in this occasion.
