B. W. Coile
Brantley (B W) Webster Coile, Jr., 75, known to many by the name of his comedic character Roscoe PuCannon, died peacefully Wednesday evening, July 16, 2014 of lung cancer.
A son of Crawford GA, he was born to Brantley Webster Coile, Sr and Jessie Davison Coile, on April 22, 1939.
Entrepreneur, businessman and entertainer, B W, served the community in a number of ways over his sixty year career. Other than some early jobs and a stint in the U S Air Force, he applied his creativity, intelligence, and unflagging energy to starting and running a number of successful businesses including, Master's Garage, Coile Discount Furniture, Coile Manufacture's Outlet, Coile Sound Company, B W Coile Land Company, and Southern Forest Homes where he built innovative houses of his own design.
For all those accomplishments, he will be most remembered for his efforts as an entertainer and master of ceremonies for the Colbert Fourth of July Celebration, the Comer Christmas parade, the Madison County Fair, and many other venues around the area. His character Roscoe PuCannon was loved by many who didn't even know his real name. In addition B W was a Country Music song writer and performer with numerous records and albums.
Survivors include his son, Brantley Webster Coile, III of Athens, daughter, Deena Renee Parham of Colbert, sisters Josephine Taylor, Vicky Smith (Marvin) and Doris Aldrich (Stan), four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Services will be private.
