Arnoldsville - Bonnie Thompson Polk, 84, died September 8, 2005.
Born in Oglethorpe County, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Maude Smith Hitt. She was the widow of J.B. Polk and preceded in death by sons, Buddy Monroe Thompson and John Wesley Thompson, Sr. and brother, Riley Monroe Hitt. She was a member of AMVETS and Laurel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her children, Billie Doster (Bob) of Colbert, Jack L. Thompson, Jr. (Barbara) of Nicholson, Jeannette Hardeman of Arnoldsville, daughter in law, Dot Thompson of Athens, children, Faye Hayden of Winterville, Marjie Thompson of Carlton and Tim Thompson (Phyllis) of Hull; former husband, Jack L. Thompson, Sr. of High Point, NC: 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great -great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Saturday, September 10, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Winterville Cemetery with Rev. Randy Crowe officiating.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Athens-Clarke County Fire Department Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bonnie Polk Memorial Fund at The National Bank of Georgia, 2234 West Broad Street, Athens, Georgia 30606.
Lord and Stephens, EAST is in charge of arrangements.
