Bonnie Mae Loyd, age 84, went to her Lord and savior on February 9, 2012. She was born in Madison County, Georgia, on May 21, 1927, and lived in Athens, Georgia for the last 82 years.
She worked throughout most of her life. Following many years at Maynard and Dorsey, she worked for over 30 years at Puritain Mills. After retiring, she continued to work part-time at Textile World, Stork & Tot, and Uniforms Unlimited.
She was a member of Edwards Chapel Baptist Church and actively participated in many church functions and groups over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lizzy and William J. Loyd, siblings Coleman Loyd, Felix Loyd, Flora Hale, and Nancy Cofer. In addition to siblings, she was preceded in death by nephews Pierce Postell, Larry Heymann, and Floyd Wagner, and great nephew Floyd Wagner III.
Although Bonnie had never married, she was a second mother to many. She is survived by her nieces, Gail Postell, Delores Heymann, Evelyna Wagner, Rita Parr, Shirley Upchurch, and Peggy Hamlin; devoted friend Helen Rae Fuller; great-nieces and nephews Beth Postell Baker, Ashlie Postell, Mickie Kozelnicky, Lori Watson, Benny Watson, Dana Hooper, Jason Hooper, Ivy Bennett, Jeff Wagner, Don Parr, Daniel Parr, Stacy Russell, Johnny Upchurch; great-great nieces and nephews Ashley Baker, Philip Rittenhouse, Christa Rittenhouse, Brea Kozelnicky, Ellie Baker-Kozelnicky, Maddie Baker-Kozelnicky, Michael Watson, Abby Williams, Jasmin Hooper, Tyler Hooper, Kellie Bennett, Amanda Bennett, Julie Bennett, Chris Parr, Daniel Parr, Michael Parr, Jessica Russell, Ansley Russell; great-great-great nieces and nephews: Kaitlin Hathorn, Easton Parr.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 11, from 6:00-8:00pm at Lord and Stephens East.
Funeral will be Sunday, February 12, at Edwards Chapel Baptist Church at 3:00 pm with burial to follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
