Jean Hammond, 82, died Sunday, December 15, 2013 at her residence.
A native of Mt. Pleasant, TN, she was the daughter of the late Harry Rufus Churchwell and Nellie Katherine Gray Churchwell. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by two sisters: Elaine Little and Marjorie Wilkes. She was a member of Cornerstone Church of God. Mrs. Hammond was a faithful pastors wife and and loving mother, grandmother.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Rev. Curtis E. Hammond of Winterville, son and daughter in law: Johnny and Robin Hammond of Athens; daughter and son in law: Jenny and Bobby Whitlow of Winterville; grandchildren: Dawn Hammond, Jason Hammond, Mandy Whitlow, Clint Whitlow, Rebekah Whitlow; great grandchildren: Joshua Hammond, Reagan Hammond, Anna Grace Whitlow and Landon Hartman.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 2PM at Lord & Stephens East Chapel with Revs. Robert Sheppard and Raymond Duncan officiating. Burial will follow at Athens Memory Gardens. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the funeral home.
Lord and Stephens East is in charge of arrangements.
