Bobby Charles Townsend

Bobby Charles Townsend, 88, of Colbert passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022. Born on October 4, 1933 in Spartanburg, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Charles Townsend and Bertha Ramey Townsend.

Bobby was a member of Whitehall Baptist Church in Athens, GA and retired as a GySgt in The United States Marine Corps.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elnora Saxon Townsend; siblings, James Townsend, Ruth Townsend Simmons, Florence Townsend Warren.

Survivors include his children, Debbie (Jimmy) Hembree, Chuck (Angie) Townsend, Bobby Jr. (Tracy) Townsend; grandchildren, Mike (Savannah) Hembree, Rusty (Molly Stovall) Hembree, Kevin (Aimee) Townsend, Cody (Keri) Townsend, Angeleigh Townsend, Russell Sloan; great grandchildren, Chaelyn Hembree, Amelia Hembree, Presley Hembree, Jordan Sloan, Geneieve Townsend, Nevakate Stovall.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Lord & Stephens, East, Athens, with Pastor Jimmy Edwards and Major Connie Tippett, USA, Retd. officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Winterville Cemetery.
