MSG Bobby Spivey, USA (Ret.), age 76 of Colbert, Georgia, passed away Sunday afternoon, 23 September 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Soperton, Georgia, the son of the late Ralph and Agnes Spivey. Bobby served 20 years (1953-1973) in the U.S. Army serving two tours of duty in Vietnam with the 5th Special Forces Group (Vietnam). His awards include 2 Bronze Stars, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/ Silver Star & Palm Leaf, RVN Gallantry Cross w/ BS, US Army Combat Infantry Badge, US Army Parachutes Badge, Vietnamese Parachutists Badge. After his retirement from the Army, Bobby served over 23 years as a member of the Georgia Association of Realtors. He also worked for First American Bank for several years. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister, Owen Spivey, Geneva Spivey Williamson, Merkel Spivey, Wilbur Spivey, and Tinley Senclair. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Audrey Lindsey Spivey; sister, Patricia Spivey Lord of Dublin, GA; three sons, Robert Spivey of Madison County, Sheldon Spivey of Jackson County, Brian Spivey of Madison County; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Hull Baptist Church, Hull, GA. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to T.A.P.S. (Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors) in honor of SPC Michael K. Spivey. Lord & Stephens, Danielsville is in charge of arrangements.
