Bobby Ray Sims, of Bogart, died Saturday September 11, 2010. A lifelong resident of Bogart and a 1968 graduate of Oconee County High School, he was a son of the late Grady and Virginia Vincent Sims. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served in the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Sims was an avid hunter and was a member of the Buck Eye Hunting Club for over 30 years. He retired from the University of Georgia after 30 years of service as an electrician and was also employed with Nancy Flowers Reality for 2 years.
Mr. Sims was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Alice Faye Sorrow.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Lord and Stephens West Chapel with Rev. Martin Graham officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday, September 13, 2010 at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Donna Conway Sims; sister, Deborah McGinnis; nieces, Amanda Maddox and Michelle McGinnis; Melissa Clark and husband, Jerry; and a number of other relatives.
