Blanche Fields Shedd

Arnoldsville - Blanche Fields Shedd came to Arnoldsville at the young age of three upon the death of her mother where she remained within a 10-mile radius. She was born on October 12, 1911 and died on January 3, 2007. She was the daughter of Andy and Cora Lee Waters Fields and stepmother, Sallie Spence Fields.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Dud G. Shedd; son Billy V. Shedd; brother and sister-in-law Woodrow and Bertie Mae Fields; sister and brother-in-law Fred and Inez Saye; brother Frank Fields; and her pets, Buttons and Buttons II.
Mrs. Shedd enjoyed her vegetable garden, flowers in her yard, and always-fresh flowers on her kitchen table. Her time spent with the Oglethorpe Senior Center and Temple Church Seniors, and Corinth Baptist Church where she was the oldest member. She retired from Thomas Textile with 23 years of service. Mrs. Shedd was a devoted wife, mama and homemaker to her six children.
She survived by her daughter- in-law, Shirley Shedd Gordon of Fayeville, and grandchildren David and Denise; son Bobby and Pat Shedd of Crawford, and grandchildren Billy, Brenda, Therresa, Bobby, and Susie; son Ronald and Nell Shedd of Athens, and grandchildren, Keith, Dale, and Karen; daughter Martha Ann and Dennis Langford of Athens, and grandchildren Dean and Brian; son Raymond and Rhonda Shedd of Colbert; daughter Nancy Gail Williams of Winterville, and grandchildren Nichole and Danielle; several great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Mary Frances Fields of Athens; and nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services were held on January 4, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. at Arnoldsville Cemetery. Clergy, Rev. James Harrelson and special tribute was delivered by Raymond Shedd.
