Blake Burnham Shepherd
As Blake made his rounds to the local grocery stores, bank, and local restaurants in Watkinsville Georgia, the sound of laughter was heard as he shared his great sense of humor. What a great guy with a wonderful wit! Blake was 75 and retired when he died unexpectedly at home on the evening of January 26, 2021. He will be greatly missed. Blake was born on March 20,1945 in Newport Beach, California to Naval Captain Albert Lee Shepherd and his wife Bette Anne. He grew up as a young child in Rhode Island where his father was an instructor at the Naval War College. The family then moved to Norfolk, Virginia where Blake attended Maury High School and graduated from Old Dominion University. From there he served in the U.S. Navy and the Reserves where he earned a degree from Saint Leo University. As Blake returned to civilian, life he was employed by The Coca-Cola Company in Brand Sales and Marketing Development. Afterwards he was employed by Del Monte. He was married for 34 years to the mother of his children, Pamela Andrews Shepherd and later was widowed by Ellen Dixon Shepherd. Blake is survived by his love Gloria Crews, also by his younger brother Craig Shepherd, two sons Brandon Shepherd and Kevin Shepherd and his wife Amy and three grandchildren.
Graveside services will be Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 11:00AM at Oconee Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until service time at Oconee Chapel, 2370 Hog Mountain Road, Watkinsville, GA 30677.
Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, WEST, Watkinsville, is in charge of arrangements.
