Billy Rich Lyle

Billy Rich Lyle, 89, died January 19, 2023.

Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late George Washington and Princess Carruth Lyle. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force in the Korean Era and a graduate of Young Harris College. He lived most of his life in Athens, and was a former employee of Hadaway Realty Company before founding Athens Realty Appraisals. Mr. Lyle was a longtime member of Chapelwood United Methodist Church, United Methodist Men and Wesley Sunday School Class. He was active as a pack and troop leader in the Cub and Boy Scouts. He was a longtime board member of the Georgia Coliseum Club supporting the UGA basketball program.

Survivors include his sons, David (Elizabeth) Lyle, of Athens, and Eddie (Dorrie) Lyle, of Moreno Valley, Calif. and grandchildren, Burke and Drew Lyle.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 23, 2023 from 1:00 until 2:00pm at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, WEST. A graveside service will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chapelwood United Methodist Church 100 Janice Drive, Athens, GA 30606.
