Billy Jack Mundy, P0385, was born April 29, 1957, in Canton, GA to John Tyra and Marie Vaughn Mundy.
Jack was raised in Cumming Ga, graduating from Forsyth County High School. He was a member of the volunteer fire department in Cumming. After graduating from high school, he became an EMT working in Cherokee County. In 1979, after graduating from Paramedic School in Dekalb County, he began working at St. Mary's Hospital Ambulance Service in Athens, Ga. where he served for 20 years, receiving awards for Region 10 EMT of the year and most proudly receiving The John Steed Award.
During this time in Athens, Jack began his most proud and rewarding career as an EMT instructor as a second job and participated in several Region 10 extrication schools.
In 2000, Jack began working for the State of Georgia Office of EMS as the Region 2 EMS training coordinator and later, the Region 10 training coordinator as well.
In 2010, he transferred to Athens Technical College as Clinical Coordinator for the EMT/Paramedic program, and earning his associate degree in EMS science, until he retired in 2020, but continued to do what he loved as an adjunct instructor, as well as serving as a volunteer first responder in Oglethorpe County.
As his health declined, he was always proud to say that most of the medical personnel caring for him at STMH and Piedmont Athens were students of his in some way. In his final hours this was so true, and his family would like to thank all for their caring and heroic efforts to save him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
