Watkinsville, GA - William "Billy" Anthony Dunbar, Jr., also known as "Woody Duck" passed away August 22, 2008.
A native of Clarke County, GA, he was a son of Mary Chilivis Dunbar of Athens, and the late William Anthony Dunbar, Sr. He was preceded in death by his brother, Nick Dunbar.
Mr. Dunbar was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Bell South after thirty-eight years. He was a naturalist and bird enthusiast who was a frequent guest on The Ludlow Porch Show, where he would share information related to birds.
Memorial services will be Friday, August 29, 2008, at 7:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to service time.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda J. Dunbar; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Mike Ivy of Bostwick, Becky and Patrick Thompson of Gainesville; two stepdaughters and stepson-in-law, Christy Dickens of Athens, Jennifer and Shawne Hayes of Athens; two brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Elaine Dunbar of Athens and Mark and Linda Dunbar of Statham; six grandchildren, Hattie Ivy, Abbey Ivy, Mikey Ivy, William Thompson, Jackson Hayes and Chazz Evans; a number of nieces and nephews; beloved canine companions, Chloe, Molly, Bonnie, Ele, and Phoebe.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a dachsund rescue fund, DREAM, 1738 East Clifton Road, NE, Atlanta, GA 30307.
Lord and Stephens, WEST, is in charge of arrangements.
