Billy Joe Colquitt, 82, husband of the late Connie Burt Colquitt, died Thursday, December 4, 2014.
A native of Athens, he was the son of the late Cohen Beverly Colquitt and Martha Chandler Colquitt. He retired from Westinghouse after 32 years and served in the US Navy. Mr. Colquitt was a member of Winterville First Baptist Church where he was a member of the choir. He was also an avid coin collector and enjoyed researching family history.
Survivors include his children: Cathy (Zeb) Guest of Crawford, Bill (Kim) Colquitt of Carrollton, Joey (Wanda) Colquitt of Crawford, Burt (Suzanne) Colquitt of Nicholson, Lorrie (Marion) Hammes of Danielsville; 11 grandchildren: Hannah, Colton, Jacob, Gage, Loren, Sara, Kaly, Matthew, Kristen, Charli Jo, Kendyl and one great granddaughter, Eliza.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 7, 2014 at 2PM at Winterville First Baptist Church with Dr. Phil Wages officiating. Burial will follow at Athens Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4, Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Winterville First Baptist Church.
