William (Bill) John O'Neill, 82, of Athens, GA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on January 15, 2018.
A longtime resident of Athens, GA. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on February 23, 1935 to the late William Regis and Elsie Johe O'Neill. Mr. O'Neill was loved by everyone who knew him and will forever be cherished. He was in the building supply industry most of his adult life. His business success led him to numerous locations across the midwest until settling in Athens, Georgia. He chose early retirement in 1997, which allowed him to do extensive traveling all over the world for many years with his wife Jean, the love of his life. He enjoyed all UGA sports, especially the GymDog gymnastics meets and Saturday afternoons in Sanford Stadium where he was a proud honorary member of the Aisle-10 Crew. He also loved his favorite childhood team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Most importantly he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather to his loving family and was happiest when he was with his children and grandchildren, who were lucky enough to call him PapPap.
