Bettye Prelow Smith

Bettye P. Smith, 63, of Athens died on Tuesday, December 6, 2016.
Born in Shreveport, LA, she was the daughter of Louvenia Johnson Prelow of Natchitoches, LA and the late L.C. Prelow. Bettye received her bachelor's degree from Grambling State University, her masters' degree from Northwestern State University and her Doctorate from The Ohio State University. She was a professor at the University of Georgia. She was a member of Church of the Nations.

Survivors include her daughter and son in law; Kandice and Raemone Eberhardt of Lawrenceville and their daughter, Michaela Eberhardt; seven siblings: Joe Prelow, Melton Prelow, Freddie Prelow, Helen Derrough, Catherine McBeth, all of Dallas, TX; Rose Jones of Hutto, TX and Sepora Fisher of Natchitoches, LA and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 2PM at Lord & Stephens East Chapel with Pastors Mike Holt and Mel Holmes officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at Athens Memory Gardens.
