Betty Jo Waters

August 30, 1935 — October 26, 2014

Betty Jo Thaxton Waters was a devout Christian and a life long member of the Pentecostal faith. She was a church organist and pianist for over 50 years, a visionary, a perfectionist and very loving wife and mother. Mrs. Waters died Sunday, October 26, 2014.
Betty retired from the University of Georgia Alumni Society after 35 years. She was a Charter member of Heritage Fellowship Church and served as the church organist and pianist. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Marvin Waters, two sons, Gary (Kimberly) Waters, Tony Waters, two grandchildren, Alex and Katie Waters, two adopted daughters, Ann (Keith) Holmes and Kellie (Ken) McIntyre.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Ernest and Ruth Louise Thaxton, two brothers, Henry Paul (Runell) Thaxton and Allen Thaxton.
Funeral services will be held at Lord & Stephens East Chapel, Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 2PM with Revs., Robert Sheppard, Tim Vaughn and Howard Conine officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
