Betty L. Jones

Betty Ann Lovern Jones, 79, of Hull passed away on October 4, 2024. She was the daughter of the late Granderson Field Lovern and Annie Laura Bradberry Lovern. Mrs. Jones grew up in Oconee County and was a 1963 graduate of Oconee County High School. After graduation, she worked as a telephone operator for Bell South for several years. She and her husband later owned and operated Jones Grocery and Gas Station on Highway 72 in Athens. She began working at the State Botanical Garden at the University of Georgia in 1996 where she worked until her retirement in 2012.

Mrs. Jones was a loving wife, mother, and Nana. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Grover L. Jones, Jr.; children, Patsy Jones Adams (Greg) of Hull, Billy J. Jones (Melanie) of Athens, Suzanne Jones Brown (Ray) of Danielsville; grandchildren, Tyler Adams (Kelsi) of Bogart, Trey Adams (Kathleen) of Athens, Amber Williams (Jaime) of Charlotte, NC, Caleb Jones (Mallory) of Colbert, and Kaylee Brown of Danielsville; and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Granderson Field Lovern and Annie Laura Bradberry Lovern; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Lovern; and a brother Ed Lovern. 

Funeral services will be at Hull Baptist Church on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 11:00 am with Rev. Jeff Tinsley, Rev. Jeff Wells and Rev. Randy Crowe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Adams, Trey Adams, Caleb Jones, Randy Jones, Eric Jones, Darren Jones, Robert Stamps and Dave Lovern.
