Betty Jewell (Smith) Fields

Betty Jewell Fields, 82, died Thursday, September 17, 2020. Born in Augusta, GA, Betty was the daughter of the late John David Smith and Bertha Mercer Smith.  A longtime resident of Oconee County, Betty worked at Publix in the Deli Department and was a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church.  Survivors include her children: Steve Hardigree of Athens and Mike (Peggy) Hardigree both of Athens, Oconee County; siblings: Anie Mae Daniels of Marietta, Carolyn Dalton, Mary Jean Dalton, Gene Smith, Harold Smith, Tommy Smith, Bobby Smith, David Smith, Margie Moore, Kathy Scoggin, Richard Smith and Sandra Ewing all of Athens, Oconee County; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 2PM at Oconee Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 prior to the graveside service at Oconee Chapel, 2370 Hog Mountain Road, Watkinsville, GA. www.lordandstephens.com
