Betty Jean Weatherford Chambers went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, January 17, 2019 after an extended illness and a life well lived. Born to Otis and Pearl Weatherford on July 14, 1933, Betty graduated from Watkinsville High School and the Piedmont School of Nursing in Atlanta. She was a registered nurse for many years at Athens General Hospital (now Piedmont Athens Regional.) Betty is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dwain Chambers of Athens, and children Susan Topham (Ken) of Cartersville, Paul Chambers (Suzanne) of Watkinsville and Bryan Chambers of Marietta. Grandchildren are Kent Topham (Ashley), Christopher Topham (Morgan), Chase Topham and Karen Dunwiddie (Jeff), Katie Alligood (Jon), Mary Smith (Andrew), Chip Chambers, Betsy Chambers, Patricia Chambers and Matthew Chambers. She also leaves behind many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and loving friends. Betty Chambers was a born again, Bible- believing, woman of prayer who was a devoted mother, wife and encourager of those around her. She was a longtime member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church, Campus Crusade for Christ, and Town and County Garden Club. Betty enjoyed her family, friends, cooking, entertaining, and Bible study. The family welcomes flowers or donations may be made to Prince Avenue Baptist Church of Bogart, Ga. Visitation will be this Saturday night, January 19 from 5-7 pm at Lord and Stephens West, 1211 Jimmy Daniel Road in Watkinsville, GA. The funeral will be Sunday afternoon at 2:00 in the Lord and Stephens Chapel with the family also receiving friends one hour before the service. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery on the Atlanta Highway.
