Bettie James Phillips, 92, of Athens, Georgia went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 17, 2021. She was born in Athens, Georgia to the late George W. James, Sr. and Effie Threlkeld James. She married the love of her life, Bob (deceased) in 1947 and they had two sons, Mitch (deceased) and David. Bettie worked as a service representative for Bell South until her retirement in 1991. She was a member at first United Methodist Church in Athens and a volunteer for the Red Cross and various civic organizations. She had two siblings: brother, George W. James, Jr. (deceased) and sister Joy (Dave) Sowle of Salem, OR; nephew George (Michele) James of Athens, GA, niece Rita (Lamar) Morrell of Powdersville, SC, and nephew Eric (Erinn) Sowle of Portland, OR; great-nieces and -nephews: Kim James (Scott Kibbey), Heather (Chuck) Anglin, Landon Brown, Lee Brown (deceased), and Mandy (Brent) Merritt.

You are invited to join her family at a graveside service on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Oconee Hill Cemetery at 2 PM.
