Betsy Earnest Carson

Betsy Earnest Carson, 78, died Friday, July 26, 2013 after a brief illness. Born Dec. 8, 1934, she was a graduate of the University of Georgia, where she met and later married Johnny Carson Sr., on Sept. 11, 1955. She spent 20 years as an educator before retiring in 1991 and was a 37-year resident of Greene County. She was preceded in death by her husband in April 2009.
Survivors include son Johnny Carson Jr.; daughter, Dianne Thomas and husband Bruce of Social Circle; brother, Charles Earnest Jr. of Calhoun; beloved cousins, Mary Lindamood and Debra Eubanks of Tyrone; and grandchildren, Josh Carson of Florida, Laura Carson of Bridgewater, Mass., Cody Thomas, Julia Thomas, Mary Hannah Thomas and Caleb Thomas, all of Social Circle.
A celebration of her life will be held 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 18 at Monroe First United Methodist Church. Live long and prosper.
