Bertie Lou Herring, 91, wife of the late Henry David Herring, died Wednesday, November 14, 2012.
A native of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late James and Marize Whitley Patat. She retired from Blue Bell Textiles and was a member of Oakgrove Baptist Church. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her son: Thomas Ernest Guest; four brothers; three sisters: grandson: Bobby Chance Casper; her first husband, Joe C. Guest and second husband, Henry David Herring.
Survivors include her children: Joe (Betty) Guest, James (Katie) Guest, Pete Guest, Jerry R. (Evelyn) Guest, Beatrice Tench, Edward A. (Kim) Guest, Stanley L. Guest, Nancy L. (Kenny) Casper, Henry David Herring, JR.; sister: Ann (John) Adams; brothers: William B. Shelton and James C. Shelton; 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 2PM at Oakgrove Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Owens and Rev. Wesley Guest officiating. Burial will follow at Vineyard Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Friday, November 16, 2012at the funeral home.
