Winterville - Bertie Mae Gearin, 85, passed away Friday, September 3, 2010.
Born in Cleveland, she was the daughter of the late Homer and Martha Skelton Ewing. She was a longtime member of East Athens Baptist Church and the BYKOTA Sunday School Class. Mrs. Gearin was a beloved homemaker and mother and was dearly devoted to her family.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, John D. Gearin; daughters, Polly Hall (Craig) of Elko, Nev., Elizabeth Byrum of Monroe, and Janie King of Buford; sister, Nancy Gravitt of Gainesville; grandchildren, Denise, Jeremy, James, Beth, Will, Jennifer, Waylon, Keith and Justin; and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Sunday, September 5, 2010 at 2 p.m. at East Athens Baptist Church, with Revs. Ray Wuerzer and Don Leaptrott officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
