Bernice Proctor, 98, died Wednesday, April 7, 2010.
A native of Greenville, SC, she was a daughter of the late William and Maude Goodnough Payne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene R. Proctor, grandson, Jerry Wagoner and great grandson, Craig Hughes.
Mrs. Proctor was a homemaker and was very proud of the fact that in the 1950s, she was able return to school and obtain her diploma. She joined the church in her late teens and remained active in church her entire life. She was a resident of High Point, NC until 1978 when she moved to Florida. In 1991, she moved from Florida to Athens where she has remained an active member of Christian Life Worship Center.
Funeral services will be Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Christian Life Worship Center with Rev. John Ingham officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and C. B. Wagoner of Athens, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Ernestine Proctor of Orlando, FL and Ronnie and Daisy Proctor of High Point, NC; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren.
The family would like of offer a special thank you to the nurses and staff on the 3rd and 5th floors at Athens Regional Medical Center, Odyssey Hospice and Mrs. Proctor's caretaker, Jeanette King for their constant care and attention.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to Odyssey Hospice.
