Carlton, GA - Bennie Edward Towe, 64, passed away January 4, 2009.
A native of Clarke County, he was a son of the late Bertie Lou Whitfield and James Gordon Towe. He served in the Vietnam War in the United States Army and retired from Stanfield Air Systems after thirty years.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST with Revs. Russell Bruce and Hoyt Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Sandy Cross Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie Belle Johnson Towe; five children, Virginia Lynn Webb of Crawford, Carla Jean Michael of Arnoldsville, Barbara Dianne Myers of Carlton, Dennis Michael Dixon of Carlton, and Debbie Lucke of Florida; three brothers, Bobby G. Towe of Arnoldsville, Harvey L. Towe of Watkinsville, and Harrison R. Towe of Arkansas; grandchildren, Letisha Hicks, Melissa Myers, Joshua R. Michael, Michael Dixon, Zachary Mason Webb, Joseph Clifford Webb, Jr. and two other grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Stanley Johnson, Matt Matthews, Mike White, Jason Johnson, Mitch Allen, and Jimmy Green.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oglethorpe County Recreation Department, PO Box 261, Lexington, GA 30648.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Lord and Stephens, EAST, is in charge of arrangements.
