Benjamin James Rowan, 29, of Sandy Springs, GA passed away on June 9, 2018. Ben graduated with honors from Oconee County High School and earned his Associate's degree from Athens Tech. He was a happily employed mechanic at Mercedes-Benz USA Headquarters of Sandy Springs. He was an avid biker, kayaker, and graced stages as a bass guitarist/percussionist for several area bands. A native Athenian, Ben was the son of Samuel James Rowan, Jr. (Susan Joy) of Bluffton, SC and Karen Schirmer Bonds of Winder, GA. He is also survived by brother, Chris Rowan (Kenya) and nephew Alex of Winder, GA, grandmother/mema Anne Rowan, aunt Judy Cox, cousins Miriam and Sarahgrace Cox of Watkinsville, GA. He is also survived by aunt Noell Rowan (Laura Hall) of Carolina Beach, NC and great aunt Lynn Peek of Decatur, GA.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 5:30pm at Watkinsville First United Methodist Church and a reception to follow at Grace Hall.
