Barry Hammond Hicks, Sr., died Wednesday, March 23, 2022. Born in Athens, GA he was the son of the late Dr. Grady Bannister Hicks and Era Elvie Hammond Hicks. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Mary Frances Sherdan Hicks, his second wife Gloria Fay Hurst Hicks, son, Barry Hicks, Jr. and sister in law, Sheila Hicks. Barry had attended Piedmont College and the University of Georgia, was the owner of Hick’s Deer Processing for 35 years and retired from the Navy Supply School in Athens, GA. He was a member of New Life Apostolic Church, Watkinsville, GA, the Oconee County Foster Parents, Boy Scouts in Clarkesville, GA, and the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia. Survivors include his four children: Rodney (Nicole) Hicks of Athens, Starla (Jimmy) Kyle of Sugar Hill, Brantley Hicks of Watkinsville and Amber (Jake) Whiten of Flowery Branch; siblings: Gloria (Mike) Parker of Bishop, Chris (Judy) Hicks of Crawford and Kent Hicks of Statham; grandchildren: Brooke, Madison, Hunter, Alyssa, Aubree, Hayden, Brant, Vintage and Kinsley. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 2PM at Lord and Stephens West Chapel with Revs. Tim Hammond and Jordan Copeland officiating.
