Barney Russell Willoughby, Sr., 72, died April 5, 2009.
A native and lifelong resident of Oconee County, he was a son of the late David and Vallie Barton Willoughby. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a retired plumber. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy W. Willoughby and Phillip T. Willoughby; two sisters, Sallie Florence Kidd and Lizzie Ruth Patton; brother-in-law, Herbert Patton.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Oconee Chapel with Rev. Wayne Powers officiating. Interment will be in Oconee Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Jean Walls Willoughby; two sons and daughters-in-law, Barney Russell (Ivy) Willoughby, Jr. and Trenton Scott (Kristle) Willoughby, Sr., all of Oconee County; three daughters and son-in-law, Jeanie Rene' Hammond of Athens, Beverly Dawn Garner of Oconee County and Lisa Dianne (Calvin) Bradberry of Hull; son-in-law, Steve Hammond of Watkinsville; brother, Harry T. Willoughby of Watkinsville; loving brother-in-law, Fred C. Kidd of Athens; thirteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many special friends.
Pallbearers will be Keith Dotson, Michael Kennedy, Neil Hattaway, L. V. Harrison, Dala Griffeth, and Danny Walls.
Oconee Chapel Funeral Directors, Inc., is in charge of arrangements.
