Barbara Ann Bevill Vickery, 87, went to be with Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, on August 1, 2021.
She was born May 6, 1934, in Savannah, GA to the late Frank and Sadie Bevill.
Barbara was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.
She was a gifted artist who enjoyed drawing pictures and making cards for family and friends that were personalized for each individual. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, painting, decorating and making multiple crafts.
In addition, she wrote numerous love stories. She enjoyed researching the history and background of the location where each story took place.
One of her biggest joys was spending time with her great-grandchildren and watching them play.
She was a longtime member of Winterville First Baptist Church. As a member of the Joy Sunday School Class, her ministry was referred to as being “The Card Lady.” She mailed hundreds of cards which touched many lives for Christ.
Barbara was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Sadie Gattmann. As well as her husband of 25 years, James V. Vickery.
She is survived by her daughters Debbie Winsett and Nancy (Bill) Harvill, her son Jimmy (Cindy) Vickery, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at Athens Memory Gardens with Rev. Joshua Harvill, grandson, officiating. Music by grandchildren, Kimberly Nelms and Michael Winsett.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Winterville First Baptist Church Weekday Preschool.
