Barbara L. Ross

Barbara L. Ross, 79, of Athens, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023.

Born in Gainesville, she was a daughter of the late Henry Lee Lawson, Sr. and Mary Juanita Highsmith Lawson. Mrs. Ross retired from the University of Georgia Sociology Department following 33 years of employment. She enjoyed traveling and the beach and she was a wonderful cook. Most importantly, she cherished her family and absolutely adored her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Ross.

Survivors include her children, Robert Parrish (Amy) and Donna Elder (Barry); grandchildren, Nathan Henry "Hank" Morris, Lindsey Gwenell Parrish and Robert Brooks Parrish; three siblings, Henry Lee Lawson, Jr., Anita Kay Lawson and Betty Sue Gurganus and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 11:00 am at Oconee Chapel, 2370 Highway 53, Watkinsville, GA 30677. Interment will follow in Oconee Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and host a reception at their home following the interment.
