Barbara Ragene Gaul

June 7, 1955 — April 29, 2020

Barbara was born in Pomona California to father, Joseph Gaul and mother Fay Eris Brinson Gaul, their second of four children and oldest daughter.
The family lived in Glendora, California until Barbara was about the age of 9 years old when she and her family moved to Los Angeles, California. Barbara took modeling and acting lessons and loved to enlist her siblings in putting on skits and musical numbers in their living room for the neighbors. One of her all time favorite movies was The Sound of Music, and she directed her siblings in acting out scene after scene. She was always vivacious, bright and creative.
The family moved to Fresno, California when Barbara was about 14 years old. As a teenager, she got excellent grades throughout high school, while working part-time in an ice cream shop, and then as a waitress at Bob’s Big Boy, a famous burger place on Blackstone and Belmont. After high school, before attending college, Barbara served as a police officer cadet in the Fresno Police Department.
She was a beautiful willowy brunette who loved music, dancing and doing aerobics. She was often seen jogging through the parks of whatever city she lived in or visited with her long dark hair flying behind her and one beloved dog or another keeping pace at her heels.
Barbara attained a bachelor’s degree in journalism, attending Baptist College in South Carolina and finishing her degree at Fresno State University.
Barbara served in two branches of the US military, the Air Force, (where she ran the base newspaper) and The Army, where she served in Germany and took advantage of that time to travel extensively throughout Europe.
Barbara lived her final years in Oglethorpe County surrounded by her mother and a large loving tribe of cousins. She is survived by her parents, Joseph and Fay Eris, her siblings Ron, Craig and Karen (Thomas), as well as niece Claire (Djamel), nephews Cameron (Chelsey), Dylan (Alfredo) and Brinson, and great nieces and nephews Zuzu, Solomon, Luke and Leia.
Barbara will be lovingly remembered and missed by her whole family.  Arrangements by Lord and Stephens, EAST.
