Barbara Elizabeth Fleming, 73, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, May 11, 2010.
She was born November 6, 1936 in Clarke County, Georgia to the late Clarence John Fleming and Irene Fleeman Fleming.
She is survived by three brothers and their wives, Johnny and Jean Fleming, Tommy and Veronica Fleming and David and Judith Fleming, all of Winterville; a special cousin, Elizabeth Cornelius of Dahlonega; an uncle, Melvin Fleming of Arnoldsville; one niece and six nephews; several great nieces and nephews; caregivers, Buck and Judy Nation and their son, Dillon, who made their home with her.
Barbara was born with cerebral palsy and spent her entire life in a wheelchair. Although handicapped, she had a zest for life. A lifelong member of Arnoldsville Baptist Church, she was a member of the EverReady Sunday School class and for many years served as chair of the church's benevolence committee. She also served as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life for many years. She took great pride in her home and flower garden.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 14, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the chapel of Lord and Stephens, EAST with Rev. Nathan Palmer officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be John Fleming, Jay Fleming, Scott Fleming, Todd Fleming, Roy Fleming and Curt Fleming.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
