Athens, GA - Barbara Jane Anderson Bradley, 90, beloved wife of James Cushman Bradley and mother of Pamela Bradley Kleiber and James Anderson and Steven Douglas Bradley, died on December 12, 2012 in Athens, GA. She was born December 28, 1921 in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Wilma Walker and Benton Rees Anderson. After attending school in Clinton she completed her education at Francis, Shimer College, the University of Iowa and the Art Institute of Chicago. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority at the University of Iowa and was employed as a draftsman and army chauffer during World War II. As a professional artist she had several gallery showings of her paintings, including a last one at the Lyndon Arts Foundation in 2009. She lived with her family in Illinois, Louisiana, Texas, New Jersey, Colorado and Florida before settling in Athens in 2004.
Besides Pamela (Douglas) Kleiber and Steven (Mary) Bradley, Barbara is survived by Grandchildren Molly (Tyler) Talley, Ryan (Emily) Kleiber and their children Sally O'Steen, Tripp, Buck and Bess Talley, and Kate, Benton and Rhodes Kleiber who live in Athens and Valdosta, GA and grandchildren Scott and Megan Bradley who live in Littleton, CO.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Stroke Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231 or the State Botanical Gardens of Athens, GA would be most appreciated.
