Austin Eugene "Gene" Helsel

Austin E. "Gene" Helsel, 94, died Thursday, July 30, 2015. A native of Duncansville, PA, he was the son of the late Austin and Mary Helsel. Gene served in the US Army during WWII and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Watkinsville. He retired from Westinghouse as a machinist after 45 years.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Clara Harman Helsel, four children: Doug and Linda Forry of Hot Springs Village, AR, Joyce Busbee of Romeoville, IL, Don and Debbie Helsel of Winder, GA, Janice and Ed Brock of Loganville, GA; ten grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 12:00 at Lord & Stephens West. Burial will follow at Oconee Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
